TNPSC asks for a studio photo of 20 to 50 KB with your name and the date printed at the bottom of it, and a signature of 10 to 20 KB signed inside a 6 x 2 cm box. Here are the rules from TNPSC's instructions and its Group IV notification.

Fees as listed on 2 November 2026. They come from the official pages in the sources below and can change at any time. DigiSafe cannot guarantee them, so check the official page before you pay.

A real moment

“Your TNPSC photo uploaded, but it is a phone selfie with no name strip, and TNPSC says a photo like that can get the application rejected.”

The photo is a recent colour studio photo on a white background, 4.5 cm tall and 3.5 cm wide, with your name and the date of photography printed at the bottom, saved as a 20 to 50 KB JPG at 200 DPI. The signature, in blue or black ink inside a 6 x 2 cm box, is a 10 to 20 KB JPG.

A studio photo, not a selfie

TNPSC wants a colour, passport-size photo taken in a photo studio against a white background, showing your face from the front with both ears and part of the neck. It rules out photos taken on a mobile phone, selfies, photocopies, and photos from functions or tourist spots.

Your name and date go on the photo

The name of the candidate and the date the photo was taken must be printed at the bottom of the photo. Of the 4.5 cm height, 3 cm is your face and 1.5 cm is that strip. Ask the studio to print your name and the date on the photo.

03

How recent the photo must be

At One Time Registration the photo must be taken within the last 3 months. For each application, TNPSC asks for a photo taken on or after the date of that notification, so a photo from your OTR may be too old for a new post.

The signature box

Draw a 6 x 2 cm box on white paper, sign inside it in blue or black ink, and scan it at 200 DPI as a 10 to 20 KB JPG named Signature.jpg. Too big? Use the free signature resize tool at 20 KB. Under 10 KB? Increase image size lifts it just over.

The pixel and DPI figures do not add up

TNPSC gives both 200 DPI and pixel sizes, but at 200 DPI a 3.5 x 4.5 cm photo would be about 276 x 354 pixels, not 130 x 170. We do not convert them for you: meet the KB range and keep the centimetre proportions TNPSC publishes.
