What ABHA is

The ABHA portal describes the ABHA number as a 14-digit number that identifies you in India's digital health ecosystem, and the ABHA address as a username, like xyz@abdm, for sharing and seeing your health records. ABDM says it is different from the Ayushman card under AB PM-JAY.

Download your ABHA card

On abha.abdm.gov.in, choose Login, then Mobile Number, Aadhaar Number or ABHA Number, and complete the captcha. Once in, use Download ABHA card from your profile; the portal also offers a PVC-style print view. The ABHA app from the National Health Authority, on Google Play and the App Store, lets you log in with your mobile or ABHA number. To use an ABHA address instead, go to phr.abdm.gov.in.

Lost the card or the number?

Create an ABHA with Aadhaar

On the portal, choose to create your ABHA number using Aadhaar. You give consent, verify with an OTP sent to the mobile linked with your Aadhaar, add your contact details and pick an ABHA address. With no mobile linked to Aadhaar, ABDM says to visit a participating facility for biometric authentication, or update your Aadhaar mobile first.

05

Create an ABHA with a driving licence

The driving licence route gives you only an enrolment number online; the portal says the ABHA number comes after you take your licence to a participating ABDM facility for physical verification. The licence image must be PNG or JPG and at most 150 KB, which the free reduce image size tool can fix.

Voluntary, and you can opt out

ABDM says getting an ABHA number is not mandatory, and that treatment cannot be denied for not having one. The portal says you can opt out at any time by deactivating your ABHA number, and its profile settings offer temporary deactivation or permanent deletion. Records are shared only with your consent, which you can revoke.
