Lost your PAN card? How to get a reprint from the official sites
- Fee in India
- Rs 50, as of 6 Oct 2026
- Fee abroad
- Rs 959, as of 6 Oct 2026
- Your PAN
- Stays the same

Your PAN does not change when you lose the card. Order a reprint from the agency that processed your PAN, Protean or UTIITSL (Rs 50 in India as of 6 October 2026), and use an e-PAN while you wait.
A real moment
“Your wallet is gone, and your PAN card with it. The bank wants a copy for your new account this week.”

Order a reprint online. If Protean (formerly NSDL) processed your latest PAN application, use its Reprint PAN Card page; if UTIITSL did, use UTIITSL's reprint page. On 6 October 2026, both listed Rs 50 for delivery in India and Rs 959 abroad, including taxes. Your PAN number stays the same.
Fees as listed on 6 October 2026. They come from the official pages in the sources below and can change at any time. DigiSafe cannot guarantee them, so check the official page before you pay.

Losing the card does not cancel your PAN. A reprint is a new card with the same number and the details already on record, sent to the communication address in the Income Tax Department's latest records. Do not apply for a new PAN: Protean says holding more than one is against the law and may attract a penalty of up to Rs 10,000.

Reprint through Protean (formerly NSDL)
Use Protean's Reprint PAN Card page if your latest PAN application was processed through Protean, or if you got your PAN through Instant e-PAN. Enter your PAN, Aadhaar and date of birth, verify with the OTP sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile, and pay the fee: Rs 50 for delivery in India or Rs 959 abroad, as listed on 6 October 2026.

Reprint through UTIITSL
Use UTIITSL's reprint page if your PAN application was processed and the card sent through UTIITSL, or if you got your PAN through Instant e-PAN. Enter your PAN and date of birth, and Aadhaar if asked. It works only when nothing in your PAN details needs to change. The fee listed on 6 October 2026 was Rs 50 for delivery in India or Rs 959 abroad.

Need to change a detail?
A reprint keeps your details exactly as they are. If your name, address or another detail needs to change, apply for a change or correction in PAN data through the agency's site instead of a reprint.

Use an e-PAN while you wait
Protean calls the e-PAN a valid proof of allotment of PAN, so you can share it until the card arrives. If Protean processed your PAN, download it there: free three times if your PAN was allotted or changed in the last 30 days, and Rs 8.26 including taxes once more than 30 days have passed, as listed on 6 October 2026. If you got your PAN through Instant e-PAN, download it free from the Income Tax e-filing site under Instant e-PAN, Check Status / Download PAN.

Keep a copy you can get back
When the new card comes, scan it into DigiSafe. The number reader copies your PAN on your phone, and the scan is encrypted before backup, ready the next time a form asks. If you lose your phone, sign in on a new one and it comes back. DigiSafe is free today, with no ads.

Questions people ask
Do I need a new PAN if I lost my PAN card?+
No. Your PAN stays the same, so order a reprint. Protean says obtaining or holding more than one PAN is against the law and may attract a penalty of up to Rs 10,000.
Is a reprint the same as a duplicate PAN card?+
Yes. What people call a duplicate PAN card is a reprint: a new card with the same PAN and the details already on record, ordered from Protean or UTIITSL.
How much does a PAN card reprint cost?+
On 6 October 2026, both Protean and UTIITSL listed Rs 50, including taxes, for delivery in India, and Rs 959 for delivery abroad. Fees can change, so check the agency's page before you pay.
Where will the reprinted PAN card be sent?+
To the communication address in the Income Tax Department's latest records. To change the address, apply for a change in PAN data instead of a reprint.
Can I use an e-PAN until the new card arrives?+
Yes. Protean calls the e-PAN a valid proof of allotment of PAN. Download it from Protean if Protean processed your PAN. If you got your PAN through Instant e-PAN, download it free from the Income Tax e-filing site under Instant e-PAN, Check Status / Download PAN.
I lost my PAN card and do not remember the number. What now?+
Find the number first. Check papers that carry it, such as an e-PAN email or a past Form 16, or, if you already use the Income Tax e-filing site, log in with your Aadhaar number, which works as your user ID once it is linked with your PAN. Our guide on finding a forgotten PAN number covers each official route.
